Cost ranges. It does not sit on one island number.
Travel blogs love a single couple-side total per island. Those snapshots mix a four-night hotel gazebo with a villa production and then rank countries. Spend actually ranges with guest count, who pays for rooms, how many events you host, and whether you are buying a hotel product or a house weekend. Use island name only to test whether your shortlist is in range—then itemise.
- Guest-count bands move totals faster than island choice
- Do not give parents a single number copied from a listicle
- Resort packages, villa productions and civil paperwork are different budgets
The headline ceremony is not the wedding
Complimentary or low-tier ceremonies usually require room-night minimums. Chairs, florals, photography, a real dinner and an outside DJ are extras. All-inclusive resorts hide cost in the block. Villas hide cost in generators and catering. Matching-service fees on this website are a third bucket. Add the three buckets before you compare islands.
- Resort: room-block minimums dominate
- Villa: production checklists dominate
- Civil paperwork: apostille paths add time and fees the snapshot never included
Island cost behaviour in one pass
Punta Cana: often the cheapest resort shape for many US groups, especially mid-tier Bavaro. Cap Cana: luxury Dominican Republic, ignore national averages. Jamaica: packages in Montego Bay, production in Negril and Ocho Rios. Barbados: longer stays inflate couple totals. Saint Lucia: dual-airport and hillside production. Turks and Caicos: import and villa luxury. If your list is 20 people who will pay for Grace Bay, a Dominican resort average is irrelevant. If your list is 90 cousins, Grace Bay is irrelevant.
- 20 guests versus 90 guests is a bigger split than Jamaica versus the Dominican Republic
- Who pays for rooms changes everything
- Hurricane-season discounts are real and come with backup cost
Build a one-page budget before you fall in love with a lawn
Lines: couple rooms, guest rooms (even if guests pay—publish the rate so they can), flights, ceremony product, dinner, welcome event, transfers, planner, paperwork, insurance, tips, contingency. If a vendor will not help you fill their line, you cannot hire them yet. Independent matching can wait until this page exists; it cannot invent it for you.
- Currency of each line
- What is optional versus contractually required
- Storm cancellation language
How we help: a brief, then independent research
A free wedding profile is how we get the information that actually changes cost and risk: guest-count band, two islands at most, hotel versus villa, legal versus symbolic. We independently source planners against that brief, show the recommendation and the unknowns, and leave appointment with you. You pay us. Planners do not. Published private-client fees live on the pricing page and are not a substitute for the planner’s contract.
- Coordination versus full-service
- Who pays vendors
- Staffing hours on the wedding weekend
What we will not invent for a cost query
We will not publish a fake ‘average Caribbean wedding’ that mixes a Bavaro gazebo with a Grace Bay villa. We will not turn agency snapshots into a quote. We will point you at island planner pages and at the two island cost guides when you have already chosen hotel versus villa. If you still need a figure for parents this week, give them a range with the guest-count assumption written next to it, and label it orientation.
- No single-island winner on price without a guest-count band
- Ranges, not a set Jamaica or Dominican total
- Matching fees stay on a separate labelled line
Common questions
Questions couples ask
How much does a Caribbean destination wedding cost?
It ranges. Resort weekends for a small US group sit in a different band from a villa weekend with imported design. Your number is guest count plus hotel versus villa. List every line before you repeat an average.
What is the cheapest Caribbean island for a wedding?
For hotel packages, the Dominican Republic east coast is the usual answer in agency data. For a two-person elopement, several islands can be inexpensive. For 100 guests, ‘cheap island’ is mostly ‘cheap rooms near a big airport’.
Does a complimentary ceremony mean a cheap wedding?
No. It means the base hotel product was waived against a room block. Dinner, photos, flights and grandma’s suite still exist.
Should we include matching fees in the wedding budget?
Yes, if you use a paid matching service. They are small next to rooms and flights, and they are not the planner’s fee. Keep them on a separate line so family does not confuse the two. Start a free wedding profile when you can name hotel or villa.
