Caribbean Wedding Private Planner Search
Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are where most US and UK couples start—mature wedding infrastructure, familiar guest routing and real planner depth. Compare the islands visually, then match on venue model and job.
Nine Caribbean destinations in our network. Start with Jamaica or the DR, then narrow by hotel versus villa—not island stereotypes. We independently source planners; you pay us, and we are not a directory.

What to decide first
Browse destination imagery, read the Jamaica vs DR comparison, then start your planner match. We assess independent planners against your venue model and guest logistics—not directory popularity.
‘Best Caribbean island to get married’ is the wrong first question. The useful question is which kind of celebration matches your guest list, budget shape and legal needs. Jamaica rewards couples who want culture, villas and regional variety. The Dominican Republic east coast rewards couples who want all-inclusive resorts and Punta Cana flight depth. Barbados suits UK-heavy guest lists and west-coast resort lawns. Saint Lucia suits dramatic Piton settings and smaller groups who will tolerate mountain transfers. The Bahamas split between Nassau convenience and Out Island boats. Turks and Caicos and Cayman sit at the luxury-villa end. Antigua and Grenada suit harbour or intimate-island briefs. Puerto Rico and Aruba are searched constantly and sit outside this matching map—US law / no passport, and Dutch-Caribbean weather reliability, respectively.
Jamaica: about 24 hours on island, Minister’s Marriage Licence, no apostille for the standard foreign-couple path. Dominican Republic: no residency wait, but apostille and Spanish translations if you want a civil ceremony. Barbados: often cited as one of the lighter residency paths, still with in-person licence steps. Bahamas: typically around 48 hours before application. Saint Lucia and Turks and Caicos often need about two business days. Same-sex civil marriage is not available in Jamaica, the DR, Saint Lucia, the Bahamas or Turks and Caicos; Puerto Rico and Aruba are the comparison searches for a legally binding same-sex Caribbean ceremony. Always reconfirm with a marriage officer—the planner should own that checklist, not a blog table.
Wedding spend in the Caribbean ranges. A mid-tier Punta Cana hotel weekend for a US group is a different budget from a Barbados week, a Jamaica villa production, or a Turks and Caicos house with imported design. Guest count and hotel versus villa move the total more than a country ranking. Package headlines and ‘complimentary’ ceremonies almost never include guest rooms, flights or a planner who works for you. Itemise, then match a planner to the gaps.
If guests pay their own way, flight depth dominates: Jamaica (Montego Bay), the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) and the Bahamas beat Saint Lucia’s dual-airport puzzle and most Out Islands. If the couple is covering a small list, Pitons views and Grace Bay water become affordable in emotional terms even when air is dear. Atlantic hurricane season is 1 June–30 November. Peak risk is September–October. May and November are shoulder months. Dry season is roughly December–April and books first for beach photographs. A planner conversation in month 14 should already name indoor backup for any date inside the belt.
Caribbean Wedding Search does not sell resort packages and does not take fees from planners. You pay us for independent research and a recommendation based on our assessment. The destination pages below explain how venue model and guest routing change that recommendation. Start a free wedding profile when you know the island, the setting and whether the ceremony must be legally binding on the island.
Common questions
There is no single best island. Jamaica fits culture and villa variety; Punta Cana fits all-inclusive US groups; Barbados fits many UK guest lists; Saint Lucia fits dramatic small weddings; Turks and Caicos fits luxury beach villas. Match hotel versus villa, flights and legal path—not a ranking table.
Dominican Republic resort packages often sit at the low end of hotel products in agency data, with Jamaica close behind when the weekend is a hotel package. ‘Cheapest’ disappears once you add 80 guest rooms or a private-island boat. Compare complete budgets for your headcount.
Choose Jamaica for English-speaking island culture, cliffs, villas and UK familiarity. Choose Punta Cana for Punta Cana flight depth, all-inclusive resorts and defined ceremony tiers. Many couples shortlist both, then match planners to the venue they actually want.
Resort coordinators own what is inside the hotel contract. Independent planners own gaps: outside vendors, villas, multi-event weekends and honest rain plans. If the package is the whole wedding, the coordinator may suffice. If it is not, matching a planner is the job.
Not in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, the Bahamas or Turks and Caicos under current civil rules. Puerto Rico and Aruba are the comparison destinations people search for a legally binding ceremony. Symbolic celebrations are widely hosted.
Atlantic hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November. Most islands in this matching map sit inside that belt. Aruba and Curaçao are the usual ‘outside the belt’ searches and are not currently in our planner coverage.
Puerto Rico is a US territory: US marriage law, no passport for US citizens, and a different planner market. We match independent planners in independent Caribbean states and the Dominican Republic. We say so rather than stretching coverage.
