What ‘free wedding package’ usually means
Major all-inclusive brands waive a base ceremony tier when a group books a minimum number of room nights. The arch, a cake cutting, a toast and an on-site coordinator are often inside that tier. Photography, a private dinner, outside vendors, extra chairs and anyone who can work off-property are not. The couple’s cost then sits in the room block, flights and upgrades. Calling the hotel package free is accurate as accounting for that line. Calling the wedding free is marketing.
- Room-night minimums unlock the base tier
- Per-person add-ons appear the moment the guest count leaves the intimate band
- Attrition clauses in the group contract are the real risk line
Where hotel packages dominate this map
Punta Cana and Montego Bay are the volume resorts. Cap Cana is the luxury Dominican enclave and should not inherit Bavaro averages. Negril and Ocho Rios mix resorts with villas; copying a Palladium hotel package onto a cliff lawn is how couples invent a second wedding. Barbados and Saint Lucia sell fewer ‘free ceremony for 10 rooms’ products and more boutique or villa production. If your search came from a wedding-market booth, you are probably in hotel-resort territory. Say so in the brief.
- East-coast DR and Montego Bay: hotel package-shaped
- West End Negril: production-shaped even when a resort is nearby
- Do not paste a Mexico brand sheet onto Barbados
When the resort coordinator is the right hire
When every event is on one resort, guest rooms are on that resort, and you accept what's included. The in-house coordinator already knows the gazebo clock. Adding a boat, a villa welcome night, an outside band or a civil filing the hotel will not own is the moment the hotel package ends. That is the coordinator-versus-planner split. Independent matching is for the second case, not a moral upgrade on the first.
- On-resort only: coordinator may be enough
- Second venue or outside vendor: independent job
- Civil paperwork: name who files, not who smiles at the arch
How we use a package brief without becoming a travel agent
Tell us the brand, the room-night math, and what you still need owned. We do not negotiate group rates. We independently source planners who can work the gaps the hotel package leaves. If the only remaining work is ‘show up and hold the bouquet’, you may not need us. If the remaining work is a welcome dinner off-site plus a licence, you do. The wedding profile should say which. A complimentary arch is not a wedding—start a profile before you book a package that cannot host dinner.
- Brand and package details attached to the profile
- Gaps listed as tasks, not vibes
- No expectation that matching includes airfare deals
Read the attrition line before you celebrate the complimentary arch
Group contracts punish empty rooms. A ‘free’ ceremony that requires 25 nights is a room product. If cousins will not commit, you do not have 25 nights. Independent planners cannot rewrite a hotel’s attrition clause. They can tell you the hotel package is the wrong shape for a 12-person list before you sign it.
- Night math before floral math
- Intimate lists often fail resort minimums
- Walk away from a block that needs a fictional guest count
Common questions
Questions couples ask
Are all-inclusive Caribbean wedding packages actually free?
The base ceremony tier can be. The rooms, flights, dinner upgrades and photography are not. Read the room-night minimum before you repeat ‘free wedding’ to family.
Is Punta Cana cheaper than Jamaica for an all-inclusive wedding?
Resort snapshots often put the Dominican Republic east coast lower. Your number is guest count and room category. A Cap Cana villa weekend is not a Bavaro gazebo.
Do we still need a wedding planner at an all-inclusive?
Not if the entire celebration is the contracted hotel package. Yes if anything leaves the property or the civil path. Write the split before you pay two people for the same gazebo.
Should we book the resort before the planner?
Resorts often require the block first. Tell the later planner what is already frozen so they do not redesign a ceremony the hotel will not move.
Which brands offer complimentary Caribbean wedding packages?
Many resort brands do, behind room-night thresholds that change. We will not publish a ranking table of brands. Ask the hotel for the current minimum and what the base tier excludes.
